SAP Compatibility Packs: right of use expires on 01.01.2026

Compatibility Packs (CPs) are technical objects that make the transition from SAP Business Suite to SAP S/4HANA easier and faster.

However, CPs have a limited useful life until 31.12.2025. 01.01.2026 is a hard stop: as SAP is not responsible for the use of CPs for customer-owned solutions, the extended support ends as well as the right of use.

Which SAP systems are affected?

Both SAP S/4H Private Cloud (RISE) and SAP S/4HANA on premise are affected.

How can I find out if it affects me?

SAP’s own tools, such as the SAP Readiness Check (/SDF/RC_START_CHECK) and its applications Compatibility Scope Analysis and the Early Watch Alert (EWA) report, can be used to determine whether your own SAP system is affected.

What should I do if I use CPs? What alternatives do I have to the use of CPs?

SAP recommends a release upgrade to 2023, as alternative and compatible objects to the discontinued CPs are implemented here.

SAP has further solutions available with WayForward Excel. Future alternative solutions for the respective CP-ID are listed here. See also OSS note 2269324.

SAP for ME offers the last option for diagnostics and the corresponding solution. Under Services and Support, call up the Diagnostics, Reporting & Analysis menu item and select the SAP EarlyWatch Alert Solution Finder report. Use this report to search for the term Compatibility Pack in the search help to determine standard solutions offered by SAP.

Conclusion

To summarize, SAP makes the following recommendation with regard to CPs:

  • When using CPs, create a strategy for substitution with an end date of December 31, 2025. The go-to solution must be productive on this date.
