PROCESS OPTIMIZATION IN WM-MANAGED CENTRAL AND DISTRIBUTION WAREHOUSE

Optimization in an LE-Managed Central Warehouse

An LE-managed WM-warehouse represents a customer’s central storage using SAPs ITSmobile. Embedded into a WLAN infrastructure, this mobile process solution is used to store, transfer and remove goods via mobile Z-transactions. The implementation comprises the different storage types bulk storage area, pallet storage area, small parts store incl. supplies logic, repacking zone, integration points, picking bins and hazardous materials.

In addition, our optimization includes interfaces to SD (inbound/outbound deliveries, stock transport orders) and PP (production orders, KANBAN, Kit-to-order, link to route control system).

Optimization Processes by clavis

The system offers a multitude of further processes that simplify and accelerate storage processes. To enable these, the SAP standard has been optimized by Z-Logik in the following areas:

  • QM cockpit
  • Repacking cockpit
  • Shipping cockpit
  • Small parts supply
  • Pick & Pack
  • FiFo
  • MHD management
  • Vendor consignment
Route Control System

The supply-to-production process in a WM-warehouse is guaranteed by KANBAN and production orders. And it is supported by a comprehensive route control system. Already when loading transport containers in the central warehouse it is ensured that subsequently the production supply areas are supplied via an optimal route. In the production building, the containers are assigned to train stations where again the individual wagons are optimally grouped to tugger trains. (The system thus determines the goods sequence using the sequence of the supply areas.) Finally, on mobile confirmation, the corresponding KANBAN status is set in the production supply area. The overall process is performed with mobile devices and supervised by a cockpit with status logic. Directly after introduction the system achieved significant time savings and reduced the error rate because incorrect deliveries are impossible now.

Optimization in an HU-Managed Distribution Warehouse

In contrast to the central warehouse, the distribution warehouse represents an HU WM warehouse. Here too, the system provides many processes that simplify and accelerate the workflow:

  • Mobile goods receipt posting
  • Mobile packing transaction
  • Order picking cockpit
  • Mobile stock transfer transaction
  • Mobile loading transaction
  • Transport cockpit
Overview of Mobile Processes/Applications

The mobile packing transaction ensures multi-stage unpacking, repacking and packing incl. serial number check. The mobile goods movement transaction supplies creation and processing of transfer orders in the storage. The mobile loading transaction controls in-house stock transfer as well as delivery to the customer. Thereby the link to an express service provider and the label printing barcode are provided. The transport cockpit deals with the management of transportations between production and distribution warehouse. It cares for the allocation of trucks, tours and HUs, serves as a status monitor and has a link to express service providers.

Kit-to-Order

In customizing settings specifically set up for kit-to-order processing, the production supply can be marked as kitting relevant depending on the assembly, production supply area and production order transaction. So-called kitting carts must then be defined, which are constantly circulating between production and WM warehouse and can be tracked and controlled by a complex status sequence in a special cockpit. What at first sounds like a classic KANBAN container management system, however, thinks the integrative approach one step further: During transfer order creation, the system ensures that all components for a production order process run into production in a single kitting-trolley. If a component is not available at that time, an accelerated picking logic ensures minimal delays caused by these so-called stragglers.
