Optimization of resource planning with SAP Field Service Management (FSM)
Since 2018, SAP has included the FSM (Field Service Management) module in its range of solutions for optimizing the deployment planning of employees and other mobile resources in the field service.
This was made possible, among other things, by the takeover of the Swiss start-up Coresystems. Its software can, for example, determine a service technician according to know-how, location and availability in real time and thus enables the scheduling of current service or maintenance orders in real time.
SAP FSM is particularly interesting for companies that employ many outdoor technicians, such as petrochemicals, energy supply, plant and mechanical engineering, facility management or telecommunications. With the number and spatial distribution of service or maintenance orders occurring here, IT-supported field service planning ensures shorter response times, higher resource utilization, and thus overall greater efficiency in the entire service or maintenance process.
