Development object “CDS views entity” replaces DDIC-based CDS views
As of ABAP 7.55, the newly introduced development object “CDS view entity” replaces the DDIC-based CDS views that were previously defined with DEFINE VIEW. A significant difference is that only one development object with the same name is created for CDS view entities instead of two development objects with different names.
New functions added as of ABAP 7.56 will then only be available in the CDS View entities. Remember that you may need to update your ABAP Development Tools in Eclipse to the latest version in order to obtain the corresponding entries. With the migration report RUTDDLSV2MIGRATION – which was provided with ABAP 7.56 – CDS views can be converted into CDS view entities.
