How to start with CAP

Namespaces

IN CAP, attention should be paid to the correct use of namespaces to organize the data models. They ensure that entities remain unique – particularly important when working in shared cloud spaces. For example, the names of the database tables (in the CDS models) can otherwise lead to problems later on.

Adding completed fields to the CDS model

CAP comes with helpful extensions for entities. For example:

• cuid: Automatic UUID assignment for IDs
• managed: Adds fields such as createdBy and modifiedAt

CSV files

Example or start data can be stored as .csv files and loaded automatically.

Validations

Annotations such as @mandatory or @assert.target can be used to check entries for mandatory fields and valid references.
