State-of-the-Art Cloud Application for Risk Assessments

by

Since 2011 a large refinery in Lower Saxony uses an SAP application developed by clavis for the creation of risk assessments and work releases.
The risk assessments are created here both by own employees in the company and by external service providers. Since external service providers do not have access to the customer's own SAP system, they previously had to carry out the activity-related risk assessments on paper and the plant then transferred the data manually to SAP.

Replacing the error-prone manual process

This process was both non-standard and paper-heavy, as well as time-consuming and error-prone. For the next major shutdown (turnaround - TAR) in the refinery clavis developed - in close consultation with the plant and the external service providers - an intuitive web application. With its help it is now possible for the service providers to create the activity-related risk assessments in the web and to store the data directly via realtime interface in SAP.
This replaces the error-prone and time-consuming manual process.

Advantages of the web solution

- Process has been simplified and standardized
- Process now completely digital without media discontinuity
- State-of-the-art technology with Odata and UI5
- Automatic data capture
- Storage in SAP
- Use of templates for recurring work
- Availability also from the Internet (currently being implemented)
- Traceability of changes
- Own user administration
- Single Sign On

High acceptance by internal and external users

The go-live went absolutely smoothly and the new system has met with a very high level of acceptance within the company and among external service providers.
The web solution reduces the susceptibility to errors and significantly improves the security process for work releases in Daily Work and the next TAR.

Use of the latest technology

The web application uses a PHP backend in the latest version as well as an SAP UI5 front end and is hosted in the Azure Cloud.
Login to the system is done via SingleSignOn via Microsoft Azure Active Directory.
The project was successfully realized within a tight timeframe and budget.
