Naris: Customised Product Lifecycle Management
for the Henkel Fragrance Centre
Henkel is a worldwide operating enterprise located in Düsseldorf. In the Fragrance Centre of Henkel employees develop perfumes and fragrance variations for around 600 branded products. Per year the Henkel Fragrance Center produces around 9000 tons of pure perfume oil.
The Starting Situation
clavis was in charge by Henkel with the evaluation of a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solution for the Henkel Fragrance Centre. The primary focus herby was a cost-effective development and maintenance of mixtures fort the chemical, the pharmaceutical and the consumer goods industries. Moreover, a short-term implementation was required to substitute the cost-intensive legacy systems rapidly.
The Implementation
The clavis consulting partnership undertook this task in cooperation with its partner Living Pages. The first task of the project was the development of a comprehensive requirements specification. Subsequently Living Pages was responsible for the system architecture and the mapping of the internal business processes, while clavis defined the interaction and implemented the corresponding interfaces of the various SAP systems.
A special challenge arose from the goal to combine fixed business process rules on the one hand with the demands of a creative development department on the other hand. The software system called NARIS is particularly suitable for the mapping of complex business processes and solves the addressed problems to the utmost satisfaction of all involved parties. The application is based on J2EE and XML.
The Effect
Naris was implemented in approximately one year in the Henkel Fragance Centre IT system and is in use since May 2003. By this project with a narrow time and cost frame we were able to prove our capability to run a project extremely efficient.
The Prospect
The existing approaches and solutions for product lifecycle management available on the software market show considerable deficiencies. Based on our founded expertise and our dedicated approach we are able to respond intelligently to these demands. We develop customised applications time effectively and with a significantly lower budget than our competitors.
