clavis Holds SAP WM Workshop in Cologne

On 28 April 2009 it is about cost-efficient solutions for lean warehouse processes.

On 28 April 2009 interested SAP users get the opportunity to participate in a clavis workshop in Cologne. In this workshop users can catch up on well-engineered features of the SAP WM module. Further on they can discuss with clavis consultants cost-efficient solutions for lean warehouse processes. The SAP AG solely promotes the latest version EWM actively. However, warehouse processes can be mapped excellently by the prior WM module that is already included in the SAP license. Thus high priced and complex implementation projects can be avoided as well as additional license fees for the EWM module.

Especially in times of short budgets fast and lean warehouse processes become more and more important for enterprises. The SAP standard module WM, a solution for these processes, is already enclosed in the SAP license. According to the experience of clavis Unternehmensberatung GmbH, SAP users however know only little about all the WM functions. Thus the full potential of this sophisticated module is not tapped. Consequently the clavis Unternehmensberatung on 28 April 2009 provides a workshop that offers users the opportunity to find out more about the features of SAP WM. Together with clavis consultants participants can discuss concrete real-life examples of efficient and cost-effective solutions for fast and lean warehouse processes.

The SAP AG itself promotes the WM module no more, for it meanwhile has released a new version: the Extended Warehouse Management (EWM). Besides additional license costs, this new system also causes increased implementation efforts. The reason: a one-to-one migration from WM to EWM is not possible, for EWM e.g. uses different structures with the master data and the organisational data files.

On the other hand SAP WM already maps all relevant warehouse processes completely in its standard version, including goods entry and issue, putaways and picks, and supply-to-production. Besides the WM module provides interfaces to other modules like PP and QM. With SAP’s new EWM however just these interfaces currently cause problems. E.g. in the first release of EWM the interface to supply-to-production was missing. In the view of the clavis consultants the complete integration of warehouse and production however is one of the fundamental strengths of the technically mature WM module; this applies to the classic production (PP) as well as to the process industries (PP-PI).

Furthermore the use of mobile RF technology is easy to realise with SAP WM standard. Whether the user likes to apply mobile standard transactions or wants to map own requirements into Z transactions: By use of the standard technology ITSMobile both goals can be accomplished without any difficulty. This subject shall be furthered in the workshop as well.

The workshop will take place on 28 April 2009 from 2 pm to 5 pm in the clavis cologne office. Attendance is free. Please register by e-mail to r.haaker@clavis.biz or by phone on 0221/355878-0.
